Caring Through COVID

On March 8, 2020 after a full Sunday rhythm, we hosted an amazing event in the Garden lead by Rudy Caseres in partnership with Rainbow Services. We received an award from Councilman Buscaino’s Office, and we locked the gates for the night. It rained the rest of the week, and by the time Sunday March 15th rolled around we made the decision most in our county had made, we moved our worship online due to the pandemic.

1 year later we are full of gratitude for all who have continued to make church with us and all who have continued to support our work in other ways. In the last 12 months we have given more than 1,300 meals to hungry folks in our community thanks to many generous individuals and groups including, Agapao, St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Lomita, Temple Beth El and Wayfarers Chapel. Additionally, we have handed out more 600 meal replacement bags funded by volunteers, donors, the Harbor Neighborhood Relief Fund, and the Lion's Club of San Pedro.

Beyond all of this generosity, these same volunteers have brought blankets, face masks, socks and clothing items and even Christmas gifts for our neighbors in need. It is overwhelming to think of all the generosity that has passed through our gates in this last year. As we look back over the last 12 months it is overwhelming to see how much caring and generosity has passed through our gates thanks to so many of you. Our sincere thanks to each and every one of you for all you have done for the least of these during this last year.

In Faith,

Revs. Amanda and Jonathan
