"Coming to Light"

As we move towards Springtime, the days are slowly getting longer. This Sunday the time changes again to daylight savings time intended to give us even more hours awake with the sun up. Sunlight and light have an affect on us. At a very basic level we see better in the light than in the dark. It can lift our moods and give us energy.

On Friday, March 1st one of our founding members and former board President Annette Ciketic went to be with the Lord. In preparing for her celebration of life her family has talked about the service being a Heaven Party for our dear Annette. As people of faith we know that today she is surrounded by love and light. We will take time to celebrate and give thanks for her life at a service on Wednesday, March 20th at 11am at The Neighborhood Church (415 Paseo Del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274).

When our Holy Scriptures talk about light it is often connected to goodness and God. The idea being that it's easier to hide in the dark things we don't want known we hide away. When you turn on a light in a dark closet it's much easier to find things and see what is in need of attention. This week's Scripture reading from the gospel of John talks about Jesus as the light who has come into this world. Join us as we spend time together studying the light and goodness we have through Jesus.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
