"The Day of the Dead"

Each October on a Sunday afternoon the streets of downtown San Pedro swell with crowds of people coming to take part in the annual Día de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. This tradition has ancient roots and comes to life throughout the streets of our city. At the Garden Church, we mark the day by offering a quiet reflective place for merry makers to take a break, reflect, mourn and connect with the memories of their loved ones.

Each year we offer the writing names on the wall brick wall, then we pray for those who have died. We offer an art based opportunity for children and adults and something related to the garden. This year in addition to our usual offerings we will offer a farm stand to showcase what is grown in the space.

All are welcome for this special experience of community and culture in the garden.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
