The garden continues to grow with fresh summer crops going in all week. We are excited to see what this next season yields. In the church calendar this Sunday marks a change in season as well. It is Pentecost the day the Holy Spirit came, also known as the birth of the church.
This Sunday we are thrilled to welcome back Pastor Lisa Williams to the Garden. Lisa Williams is a passionate activist for our un-housed neighbors. She is the pastor at San
Pedro United Methodist Church.
Lisa is a visionary who likes to think outside of the box. Under her leadership the church
secured monthly mobile showers, created the Children’s Christmas Shopping Spree and partnered with Family Promise to create a Respite Center for unhoused families. Involvement with Family Promise resulted in Lisa and her church imagining the possibility of building affordable and permanent supportive housing on church property which is currently in the planning and funding stage. Lisa is chair of Harbor Neighborhood Relief Fund. She sits on the advisory board for Toberman Neighborhood Center, is a member of the Faith Collaborative to End Homelessness in partnership with LAHSA and the County of Los Angeles and serves on the Quality-of-Life
Committee for the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. Lisa was the 2019 Woman of the Year reciprocate for the Los Angeles County Commission on Woman representing the 4th Supervisorial District, Supervisor Janice Hahn. Lisa enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including their two chocolate labs.
Please join us in welcoming Pastor Lisa to the garden.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
