This Sunday we are blessed to welcome back Honorably Retired Garden Church Pastor Rev. Dr. Jonathan Mitchell.
Rev. Jonathan grew up among the pine groves and cranberry bogs of Southeastern Massachusetts. While working at his family restaurant he became an avid student of biology, philosophy, comparative religion and languages. After earning a Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics, he entered seminary. He has been an ordained Swedenborgian minister for 28 years, serving ministries in Washington D.C., Wayfarers Chapel, San Diego, and most recently the Garden Church of San Pedro. Now retired, he divides his time among reading, culinary explorations, language study, hiking, natural history, and social justice 'good trouble' organizing.
Continuing our summer series, Rev. Jonathan will provide reflection on and practice of Taizé chant for us this Sunday. This week we are also welcoming a Student Pastor Tirah Keal to the Garden. She will be with us through next Sunday. Please join the church board and in I in welcoming Tirah and welcoming back Rev. Jonathan on Sunday.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
