Blessings and Woes

ree

The red brick wall in the garden is once again filled with names in chalk. They are the names of those who have gone to be with the Lord. On Sunday they were prayed for one by one carefully by Dr. Linda O'Brien-Rothe and Sandra Field. This week and for the next year we as a church community will pray for all who have died including a member of our own community Maria who passed from this life to more life on New Year's Day.

The annual Día de Los Muertos (or day of the dead) is a festive celebration in downtown San Pedro--something that seems to be part of "spooky season" for most, but for us is a prelude to the Christian Holiday of All Saint's Day. This Sunday we will remember those who have gone go be with the Lord, resting from their labors in death and what the Lord calls us to as we continue life here on earth.

We hope you can join us as we continue our Faith over Fear series with this Sunday's reflection on Luke chapter 6 the section on "Blessings and Woes."

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
