Spring is slowly sliding into summer with longer days and warmer weather. In the garden, strawberries are turning red, summer seedlings are going in the ground and the early tomatoes are starting to ripen on the vine. It's an exciting time of year as kids can no longer focus on school and teachers are counting down the days until summer break begins. On the Feed and be Fed side preparations are being made for summer interns and slowly but surely the excitement is building.
This Sunday with the start of the month of June we will begin a summer sermon series on prayer. There are countless ways to pray throughout religious traditions. For us in the Christian tradition, our starting point is found in the 6th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus says "Pray in this way..." The Lord's Prayer or the Our Father is an ancient biblical prayer that crosses all branches of the vast Christian Church from the Armenian tradition, to Eastern Orthodox Churches to Churches here in Western Christianity. This prayer is where we all begin, and so this is where we will begin our sermon series this Sunday. Each week through June we will focus on a different part of this well worn prayer as we dive deeper into how we think about and practice prayer.
We hope you will join us.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
