"Love & Do Good"

Writer: The Garden ChurchThe Garden Church

Last week, we celebrated the Annual Tu Bishvat or New Year of the Trees with members of Temple Beth El. This was moved indoors to Temple Beth El due to rain. It is such a gift to have friends in several religious communities throughout San Pedro. In just a few weeks we'll mark Ash Wednesday in the garden with members of the San Pedro Faith Consortium. This is a simple service of prayers, scripture and ashes which allows us to remember our mortality as we begin the reflective spiritual season of Lent.

This Sunday is our first community meeting of the year. These take place 4 times each year and offer an opportunity for membership as well as community discussion. This week we will begin planning our 10th Anniversary celebration which will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2025. Also during worship we are continuing in the gospel of Luke with Jesus' clear reminder to love even those we find hardest to love and to do good to those who do not reciprocate. These are the parts of the Gospel message that are counter cultural and some of the hardest to live up to. Join us as we dig in and get real about what it means to follow Jesus.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
