New Years for Trees!

This Sunday falls on a Holiday from the Jewish Tradition called Tu Bishvat. A handful of years ago on a rainy December morning the Rabbi of Temple Beth El reached out to me and told me about this holiday. It's like Jewish Arbor Day she said. It's about trees and the fruits they bear and the spiritual significance of these gifts. I was sold. We gathered in the garden in the new year and Rev. Jonathan provided a Swedenborgian reflection on the spiritual correspondences of trees and various fruits and it was a total gift to be there. This year Tu Bishvat falls on Sunday and we are blessed to mark this holiday with our friends from Temple Beth El. Rabbi Julia Knobloch and Pastor Connie will share reflections on the four kinds of fruits trees give us and what they mean to us Spiritually. Cantor Ilan and Dr. Linda are providing music for the service and our Sunday meal will include examples of the 4 kinds of fruits (1- hard on the outside, soft on the inside 2-soft on the outside, hard on he inside 3-can be eaten through and through and 4- hard on the outside with a soft sweet fruit inside.) as part of our full community meal.We hope you can join us for this unique Sunday celebration!
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
