It's officially Summer. The tomatoes are ripening along with the summer squash and cucumbers. Days are longer and warmer and we are enjoying the seasonal shift. This week our denomination The Swedenborgian Church of North America gathers in Portland, OR for the annual Convention. Rev. Dave, Pastor Connie and I will each be there for some or all of the meetings this weekend and into next week.
Ah! Sunflower
"Ah! sunflower, weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the sun,
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the traveller’s journey is done;
Where the youth pined away with desire,
And the pale virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves and aspire;
Where my sunflower wishes to go." -William Blake
We don't often think of the bible as being poetry, but religious texts often contain poetry. This Sunday we'll look at Biblical poetry as an artistic medium in our sermon series "Created and Creative." Join us as we look at Biblical poetry and create some of our own.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
