This Sunday we are welcoming our Student Pastor Tirah Keal to the pulpit!
Tirah Echols Keal is a 5th generation Swedenborgian minister’s kid. She graduated from Bryn Athyn College with a bachelor’s degree in religion. She is in the process of earning her MDiv from United Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia, and her certificate from the Center of Swedenborgian Studies. Tirah felt the call to the pulpit as far back as she can remember and was told she could not be a minister because she is a girl. Instead, Tirah has held jobs in middle management in retail, and as a museum interpreter at the Glencairn museum of Religion. As well as taking every chance to be on the stage acting and singing her heart out. Tirah spent 5 years as the director of laurel Family camp, a Swedenborgian (General Church of the New Jerusalem) sponsored camp held each summer. Tirah has been married to Solomon Keal (who was ordained as a minster for the General Church in 2012) for 24 years and is the proud mom of five wonderful humans. Tirah has a passion for building spiritual community and creating welcoming space for all, with a special awareness of LGBTQIA+ people of all ages. Tirah has seen a need for opening a spiritually engaged community space that truly welcomes all in the Huntingdon Valley/Bryn Athyn area where she lives. To serve this need, she is in the process of building Bloomhaven Spiritual Community Center and is taking every opportunity to gather all the wisdom on how best to do so.Tirah is continuing our sermon series Created and Creative with Song as our focus this Sunday. Please join us in welcoming Tirah to our garden pulpit.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
