The Great Awakening

It is looking like summertime in the Garden! What a week this is with Juneteenth on Friday and Father’s Day combined with the summer solstice on Sunday the 21st. It also marks four years that I have been part of this amazing ministry team and ministry.

While this is the longest day of the year, it has always amazed me that there is this delayed effect of summer in the natural world. The daytime hours slowly get shorter while the season of summertime has just begun. The heat of summer only arrives after the peak of the longest day.

And this is also a great parable for the Swedenborgian tradition understands how the unfolding of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ happens in our world. It is a spiritual unfolding that began on June 19, 1770 and it builds and gets stronger, using our freewill to create more heaven here on earth. This is the vision for a New Church, and you are part of it.

This week I will also talk about how our understanding of trees and the natural world are also evolving as we come to better appreciate the interconnectedness of spiritual to natural world. We only recently discovered that California is home to an Oak Tree that dates back more than 13,000 years! Our spiritual roots connect us to something much larger than our individual life. Come and join us as you are able!

Psalm 92:12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.

Revelation 2:7, 22:1-7

To the one who conquers, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God…

The River of Life

22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month, and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him; they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true, for the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.” “See, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

True Christian Religion, 791

"After this work was finished the Lord called together His twelve disciples who followed Him in the world; and the next day He sent them all forth throughout the whole spiritual world to preach the Gospel that the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST reigns, whose kingdom shall be for ages and ages, according to the prediction in Daniel (7:13-14), and in the Apocalypse (11:15). Also that blessed are those that come to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Apocalypse 19: 9). This took place on the nineteenth day of June, 1770. This is what is meant by these words of the Lord: 'He

shall send His angels and they shall gather together His elect, from one end of the heavens to the other.' (Matthew 24:31).”

 Blessings,

Rev. Dave

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
