In recent weeks the summer weather has been heating up. While it hasn't been our hottest summer we did finally hit morning temperatures which caused us to close this past Tuesday. The forecast for Friday's open garden is looking promising so we are looking forward to being open for 1st Thursday and Friday.
This past Sunday we wrapped up our summer with our quarterly community meeting and election of officers to the church board. Our dinner was provided by members of the Feed and be Fed board centering garden and farm ingredients, we moved through prayer stations and we got to see the results of our August 24th communal art project--fused glass (pictured below). It was a lovely time to be together in the garden in spite of the heat.
This Sunday we will begin our Fall Sermon Series titled "Faith Over Fear: Faith in Times of Adversity." This fall we will follow the lectionary with an eye towards love, peace and justice. This Sunday we are reading Jeremiah 18 and Paul's letter to Philemon. The first passage speaks to how God can re-form us and our world as a potter re shapes clay. The second passage is one in which Paul calls on his bother in Christ Philemon to welcome Onesimus in love in spite of their previous history.
Join us as you are able as we seek to cultivate a faith that stamps out fear.
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
