"Ability-inclusive"

This Sunday our Perspectives sermon series continues with Rev. Dr. Bethany McKinney Fox who will join us and offer a sermon from the disability or ability-inclusive perspective.

Rev. Dr. Bethany McKinney Fox is founding leader of Beloved Everybody, an ability-inclusive faith community in Los Angeles where people with and without intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities, as well as neurodiverse folks, lead and participate together. She is director of spiritual formation for Cyclical LA, a church starting network, and coaches other church starters through the PCUSA's 1001 New Worshiping Communities network. Her book Disability and the Way of Jesus: Holistic Healing in the Gospels and the Church (IVP Academic, 2019) examines how Jesus' healing in the Gospels, too often used in ways that wound people with disabilities, might point a way toward real healing and mutual thriving. She is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Following Sunday worship Storytelling & Heling: The Sides of Suicide lead by Rudy Caseres returns to the garden. The event begins at 6:30pm. All Are Welcome for this powerful evening of sharing and connection.

We are looking forward to welcoming Rev. Fox to the garden and spending some time in the gospel of Mark. Come as you are, stay as you are able.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
