"Anointed"

This Sunday is aa special day in the life of The Garden Church. Beloved member Connie McOsker has completed her studies as a licensed pastor, and has received

denominational approval to be the Licensed Pastor for The Garden Church. This Sunday we have the pleasure of welcoming President of the Swedenborgian Church of North America Rev. Dr. Jim Lawrence to the garden to lead Connie's Consecration. Also joining us is Rev. Anna Woofenden our founding Pastor who will be our preacher for the day.

Rev. Anna Woofenden (she/her/hers) is the author of This is God’s Table: Finding Church Beyond the Walls. At the end of 2017 Anna transitioned the Garden Church to new leadership and has served as the Interim Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church of Pittsfield, and the Protestant Advisor at Amherst College, as well as consulting on outreach and new ministry opportunities, teaching, writing, speaking, and coaching across the country. She is now the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Northampton, MA and is the founder and co-host of the Food and Faith Podcast. She has a new book coming out in October, “The Just Kitchen” (Broadleaf 2023) with her co-author Derrick Weston.

Anna grew up in the San Juan Islands in Washington State, has lived around the country and traveled throughout the world, and is always glad to come back to the Pacific Ocean. Anna is now based in Northampton, MA with her husband David and their beloved daughter. She enjoys nature, gardening, art, children, writing, community, singing, laughter, and a good cup of chai. She is passionate about spirituality, justice, food, the earth, beauty, compassion, community, the dignity of all human beings and a calling to re-imagine church.

We are looking forward welcoming friends and colleagues from the houses of worship in our area, as well as many members of our larger community. The garden will be full of love and joy as we celebrate the newest addition to our pastoral staff.

In Faith,

Rev. Amanda
