Dreams and Prophesy

Writer: The Garden ChurchThe Garden Church

If there's one thing we are at the Garden Church it's dreamers. Our founding pastor and the founding board dreamt of a church that could be a garden and a garden that could be a church. We dreamt of a second growing space, and now Feed and be Fed is at the 6th Street Garden and the LAUSD Vic and Bonnie Christensen Science Center. We dreamt of a place of radical welcome, and we work towards that every day.

This week at church we're in our 4th Sunday of our sermon series walking through the book of Joel. This week the prophesy shifts to God's words of blessing, mercy and restoration. Nestled within that prophesy are the words "I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions." (Joel 2:28) There is a connection between dreams and prophesy. Some dreams only come to fruition when they have been prophesied or spoken into being.

At the garden church we dream dreams and we speak about them, together we say aloud the future work, ministry and kin-dom building to which we believe God is calling us. All are welcome to join us in the work of dreams and prophesy.

What We mean when We say All Are Welcome:

At The Garden Church we intentionally welcome all. We do this without requiring adherence to any religious belief or creed. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion, an environment where all can feel safe, valued, cared for, and given an opportunity to form meaningful connections with the Divine and each other. We cherish the diversity of humanity, a diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective.

We are also a member Congregation of the Pacific Coast Association of the Swedenborgian Church of North America
