This week has been extra busy in the garden. From the flurry of activity leading up to the Annual Feed and be Fed Fundraiser (Tickets still avaliable) to welcoming our newest staff member--our Summer Intern Thomas. Thomas will be with us for 10 weeks and we are excited to learn together!
Here's a message from Thomas:
Hello, Garden Church! I’m Thomas Blocker, a soon to be rising fourth-year Dual M.Div/MACEF (Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts in Christian Education and Formation) student at Princeton Theological Seminary! I’m originally from Long Beach, California and I attended the University of California, Irvine for my Bachelor’s Degree where I majored in Political Science.
Seminary was not my plan going into college or leaving it, but after serving in Youth Ministry at my home church Grace First Presbyterian in Long Beach, I discovered how integral my faith was to my vocational aspirations—so here I am!I hope to become an ordained Presbyterian pastor serving in a church soon after my time in seminary. My time in seminary has been filled with singing in choirs, playing guitar for worship nights, working at Nassau Presbyterian Church as a Youth Fellowship intern, and being chaplain to the Catholic and Lutheran Student groups! Yes, you heard that right, while I am Presbyterian, I have had the honor and pleasure of being able to participate and learn so much about my fellow students faith traditions and been able to see the virtues of how they worship and live out Christ’s mission. As for anything else, my hobbies include singing, songwriting, playing guitar, building LEGO sets, and playing video games…(the last two when I have the chance). Also If you ever want to talk about any theological/biblical concepts in any form of media (film, TV, music) or any other artistic expression, let me know—I’d be happy to talk about it! Please enlighten me!
Please join me in welcoming Thomas when you see him in the garden!
In Faith,
Rev. Amanda
