Here we are nearing the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. The Garden Church has remained an active an lively place all summer, filled with new volunteers and new people entering through the gate to soak in the beauty of this urban sanctuary. This Sunday we continue with our theme of prayer. We will explore silent prayers as well as prayers said out loud and individual as well as group prayers. The one thing we can say about prayer is that we are given instruction to find forgiveness. Forgiveness for others that have harmed us as well as asking God directly to be forgiven for things we have done to others in harm. We are to seek this forgiveness before entering sacred space, including our body temple. Come and join us in prayer and forgiveness.
Mark 11:2-25
The Lesson from the Withered Fig Tree
"In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. Then Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” 22 Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and if you do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received[c] it, and it will be yours.
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
